isabellaSeveral of you know that finding “the” right place for a trip of a lifetime can be lots of work.  Steve and I spent many, many months searching for the perfect place.  Many friends were consulted and multiple guide books scrutinized.  What if we had waited so long for this to happen and we picked the wrong place…??

…we didn’t.

I read two books by Isabella Dusi, Vanilla Beans and Brodo and Bel Vinoand fell in love with the Montalcino she shares in both volumes.  Thru  a mutal friend, Marilyn Severson, I was able to get in touch with Isabella and her husband Luigi, and rent this incredible apartment overlooking Tuscany.

pianellosignWe finally got to meet Isabella last week when she invited us for a stroll thru Montalcino.  What a thrill to learn more about the folk she talks about in her book; hear snippets of her upcoming final book in her trilogy; and see  the neighborhood of Pianello through her eyes.  She really helped us see the heart of the people here in Montalcino.
